About Us
The Defence Laboratories School, RCI, was established in the year 1988, under the initiation of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the former President of India. It was formally inaugurated on 14th July 1988 by Dr. P. Rama Rao, the then Director, DMRL.
Location
The school is situated within the RCI residential complex, almost 20 Kms, from the hub of the city on a sprawling 12 acre piece of land in a calm, peaceful, serene, absolutely pollution-free locale. Away from the noisy humdrum of the city, the RCI School provides an ideal environment for academic pursuit. The school was started as a branch of Defence Laboratories' School, Kanchanbagh, primarily to cater to the educational needs of the children of employees working at RCI and also the wards of the employees of DRDL, ASL, DMRL, DLRL, ANURAG and other allied projects and services.
The Defence Laboratories' School-RCI, is run under the aegis of the Vidyalaya Management Committee, DLS-RCI. It is a coeducational institution, cosmopolitan in nature and prepares students for the CBSE examination. The syllabi being followed are as prescribed by the CBSE with English as the medium of instruction. There is continuous interaction between teachers and students, which results in the child growing up into a wholesome human being. The students of the school are divided into four houses VIZ, Ashoka, Gandhi, Patel and Shivaji. Inter-House competitions are conducted in literary and cultural activities and sports and games. The Morning Assembly provides yet another forum where the students' talent and aptitudes find expression. leadership qualities are inculcated among the students and every opportunity is given to explore their individuality through the multifarious activities conducted by the school.
Nursery Section
The Nursery section is next to main school with in the school campus. It is also spacious and equipped exclusively to the children between the age group 3+ and 5.
